Curve Ridge

Andy, Maurice & I. Up Curve Direct first. Andy wanted to know what Curve Direct meant!

Maurice led on Curve Ridge, helped by 'Boss'. We had 4 long pitches. Maurice felt it was easy, opted for an extreme route & got stuck! Andy went to the rescue to release him.

There was mostly dry rock but it was loose & muddy in places. Happy to summit. Maurice seems to be anti-helmet! He borrowed a helmet from 'Boss' and, on summit, proceeded to kick it down towards Curve Gully. The expression on 'Boss'! His face was priceless.

Needless to say he is reluctant to loan gear to the C.O. I rescued the helmet.

Howling Ridge

A sunny day. Maurice, Frank, Bairbre & Margaret. Decided to use rope for safety. It was Frank's first climb on Howling & I like to use rope on it. Maurice - stalwart leader - guiding safely.

Posh & Lippy, natural climbers, don't need a rope but all used it. At one pitch Posh counted '1,2,3'. Margaret looked at her as, despite counting, Posh hadn't moved. Not sure what that was about - ask Posh.

It was a hot day. Me using platypus. Somehow it was acting up & the rubber top fell off and landed safely at the bottom of the pitch beside Posh & Mags. I had to clamp tightly on the tubing to prevent it pouring out.

Frank seemed to enjoy the climb too - he's a strong man with all the transport work. Maurice led us all safely
